New
Green Drinks Chapter Launches in
Shawnee on Delaware
December
1, 2010 (Shawnee on Delaware, Pennsylvania)
– A new local chapter of Green Drinks will be
launching at the Gem & Keystone Brewpub this Tuesday,
December 7, from 5 to 7 p.m. Come and meet like-minded,
forward-thinking local folks for a casual social gathering
to share ideas on creating a more sustainable local
environment and economy.
Deana Kilmer, president of Green Field Energy
Solutions, will be the guest speaker at the kickoff
event, making a short presentation on renewable energy
solutions including wind and solar systems and tips
on qualifying criteria, federal and state incentives,
and return on investments.
Green Drinks, a global, eco-conscious networking movement,
began in 1989 at a pub in Northern London, when green
design colleagues Edwin Datschefski, Yorick Benjamin
and Paul Scott would meet with like-minded friends
once a month. Datschefski said, "It was a nice
gathering, and we always encouraged people to invite
others, so you never knew who would be there and they
were always interesting people and great connections
were made and cool ideas were had." In 2001,
Datschefski created an official website, and the concept
has spread to over 845 cities in 62 countries.
The events, to be held on the first Tuesday night
of each month and co-sponsored by Northeast Pennsylvania
Natural Awakenings Magazine, will be ideal social
settings for sharing thoughts on a greener local environment
and lifestyle.
