The
Gem and Keystone™ Unveils New Winter Menus
Wednesday, January 6, 2010 (Shawnee
on Delaware, Pennsylvania) – The Gem and Keystone™,
The Shawnee Inn and Golf Resort’s brew pub that
debuted in the fall, has introduced new lunch and
dinner menus for the winter season, including several
selections that are specially designed to be paired
with ales and lagers hand-crafted on-site at the ShawneeCraft™
Brewing Company.
Featured items on the new winter menu, according to
General Manager Dan Rothman, include appetizer Cheddar
Ale Dip with Pretzel Crisps, and entrées Shrimp
Fra Diavlo (sautéed shrimp in a spicy tomato
sauce over linguini) and Sun-Dried Tomato Ravioli
(filled with smoked mozzarella and ricotta in sun-dried
tomato pasta served over a saffron garlic cream sauce).
The Beer B-Q’d Chicken entrée is roasted
with a ShawneeCraft™ Pilsner and then finished
on the restaurant’s oak grill.
An array of appetizers, salads and pub favorites are
available as are a wide selection of entrées,
including oak-grilled steaks, lamb from Jamison Farms
(Latrobe, Pa.), pork, chicken, vegetarian and seafood
dishes, the latter which all are taken from the Smithsonian
Sustainable Seafood List.
Under the direction of brewmaster Leo Bongiorno, the
ShawneeCraft™ Brewing Company makes artisanal,
heirloom, whole-food beers on the resort’s premises.
A seasonal, medium-bodied Vienna Lager is among the
new additions to The Gem and Keystone winter beer
lineup.
Since The Shawnee Inn, perched on the edge of the
Delaware River, is only minutes away from Shawnee
Mountain Ski Area, The Gem and Keystone also is an
ideal destination for skiers and snowboarders coming
off a day on the slopes. Moreover, Rothman said, The
Gem and Keystone caters to families and features special
“Little Gems” menus. Every child, 10 and
under, can order one free child’s entrée
and beverage with each adult entrée purchased.
Formerly Sam Snead’s Tavern, The Gem and Keystone
is open daily for lunch from 11:30 a.m. to 4 p.m.,
and for dinner from 4 to 10 p.m. Sunday through Thursday,
and to midnight on the weekends when live entertainment
also is featured starting at 9 p.m. The restaurant
is available for private parties and group events
and has a variety of different spaces to accommodate
group needs.
