Time for Dad to Be Treated

Article by Jeromy Wo, Public Relations: On Sunday, June 17th take time out to celebrate Dad. Growing up, my sisters and I practiced the tradition of waking up early to serve our parents breakfast in bed – burnt toast and all! Our tradition did not waiver between Mother’s Day and Father’s Day – we celebrated them both the same. Now as adults, the way in which we celebrate these holidays evolved with us. Breakfast in bed for Mom has transformed into new tomato plants and brunch at her favorite restaurant and Dad now gets treated to a day of golf or fishing. Do you think they miss the burnt toast? I do.

Most of us have lived on our own for decades and with our busy lives, the greatest gift we could give is our time. So how can Shawnee help? We are busy preparing all of our great Father’s Day offerings. From our fabulous Weekend Golf Package to tuning up all of our vessels forShawnee River and Fishing Trips, we know that spending time with Dad is the most important gift anyone could give on this special day.

Best of Forbidden Broadway

A Taste of
Forbidden Fruit

Article by Jeromy Wo, Public Relations: Did you know that Shawnee has a professional theatre in which Broadway shows are produced? The Shawnee Playhouse has put together a wonderful schedule of performances that will run throughout the summer. Many of the shows will feature professional Broadway actors hand-picked from New York City and beyond.

Forbidden Broadway - A hilarious, loving, and entertaining tribute to some of theatre's greatest stars and songwriters. Past productions in NYC were hailed as "hilarious and brilliantly wicked" by the New York Times, you don't have to be a Broadway musical fanatic to enjoy a taste of this forbidden fruit including parodies of Annie, Hairspray, and Rent. Show runs June 15 through September 2, 2012. You will be entertained so much you'll want to return again and again.
